Based in England, this role has four main areas of focus:

  • Supporting CILIP’s Communities in their engagement with CILIP HQ by building strong relationships with them, ensuring effective two-way communication with each Community, maintaining and developing training materials, being the face of CILIP and responding to administrative and governance enquiries.
  • Driving change and improvements in our Communities by collaborating with them to ensure they benefit fully from CILIP’s Digital Transformation Programme and other initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Communities to ensure strategic alignment with CILIP HQ strategy and to ensure they are allocated annual funding as needed.
  • Facilitating the CILIP Member Council quarterly meetings and helping ensure the Council is as effective as possible.

What is this role accountable for delivering? 

  • Supporting CILIP’s Communities in their engagement with CILIP HQ by building strong relationships with them, ensuring effective two-way communication with each Community. This includes the production of a monthly newsletter, sharing intelligence and feedback from the Communities with CILIP staff, being a route into CILIP for the Communities and occasional in-person visits.
  • Maintaining and developing training materials for the Communities and responding to administrative and governance enquiries from them.
  • Driving change and improvements in our Communities by collaborating with them to ensure they benefit fully from CILIP’s Digital Transformation Programme and other initiatives.
  • Providing direction and oversight for CILIP’s Communities. This includes collaborating with them to ensure strategic alignment with CILIP HQ strategy and that they are allocated annual funding as needed.
  • Regularly identifying potential leads for CILIP’s services (from committee members and event attendees) and sharing those leads with the appropriate CILIP staff.
  • Working with the CILIP CEO as part of a ‘virtual team’ tasked with aligning CILIP’s strategy and plans with the increasingly important Devolved context.
  • Facilitating the quarterly CILIP Member Council meetings and helping ensure the Council is as effective as possible.
  • Responding to leads and enquiries about the CILIP Employer Partner Scheme in the absence of the Communities & Partnerships Manager.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is experienced in overseeing communities and partnerships, has  strong customer, stakeholder and relationship manager skills and the ability to manage a flexible workload.

Previous experience of working in libraries, information or knowledge management is desirable but not essential.

Interviews

Interviews will be one hour long and held on Teams. They will consist of a series of competency-based questions and a 10-minute presentation. Successful candidates will be advised of the topic of the presentation when the interview is scheduled.

Location

The role is offered as either:

  • Hybrid basis with a minimum of two days per week spent in CILIP’s London offices located within the British Library.
  • Fully-remote basis anywhere in England. The successful candidate will be expected to attend four all-staff meetings in London every year with travel funded by CILIP.
